For years, the plaza at Vanderbilt Beach Road and Airport-Pulling Road has been a five-minute stop. You pull in for a prescription, maybe a greeting card, and you pull back out. If you live in Quail Creek and head south on Airport-Pulling toward the beach or Mercato, you have driven past this corner more times than you could count without ever really looking at it.
This year, looking at it would have told you something was different. The Cave Bistro & Wine Bar closed. Naples Wine Collection closed. Nautical Bowls closed. A new two-story building went up behind the CVS pharmacy. None of that reads as news on its own. Together, it is the story of how a pharmacy-run plaza became a plausible answer to "where should we eat tonight" for anyone living off Immokalee Road near the interstate.
What Used to Be Here
The Galleria Shoppes at Vanderbilt has a corner location, easy parking, and a mix of retail and food. The Cave was a wine bar with a following. Naples Wine Collection next door served a similar crowd. Nautical Bowls had its regulars for a post-workout smoothie. Tableside occupied its own space.
The former tenants each offered a different experience. What changed is that the vacancies stopped being vacancies at the same time, and the tenants who filled them are building something that reads as a lineup rather than a rotation.
The New Lineup, Named
Here is what has actually moved in, and what it replaced:
| Business | Previously | Now |
|---|---|---|
| Ambrosi & Sons | The Cave Bistro & Wine Bar and Naples Wine Collection | Italian market and café with imported meats, cheeses, olive oils, and a wine-by-the-glass bar |
| The Good Pour | New construction, the "1000 Building" behind CVS | Sixth Florida location of a wine and spirits retailer |
| The Supper Club | Tableside | 1930s-style dinner lounge, a sister concept to Old Vines at Mercato |
| Aufieri & Martinez | A longtime restaurant space | Argentinian steakhouse built around grilled meats |
| SweatHouz | New build-out | Wellness studio with private infrared saunas and cold plunges |
| Playa Bowls | Nautical Bowls | Smoothie and acai bar, a Jersey Shore import |
Ambrosi & Sons is the anchor of the group. Owner Rudy Ambrosi took over both the old Cave space and the adjacent Naples Wine Collection storefront to build a single Italian market and hospitality venue, and he has talked about liking the layout specifically because it lets him run retail on one side and a bar on the other. The Good Pour, meanwhile, didn't just take a spare storefront. It leased the entire new four-unit building constructed on the corner, which tells you something about how a Florida chain with five existing locations reads the growth potential of this particular stretch of Airport-Pulling Road.
The Supper Club is worth a second look too. It isn't a new restaurant group testing the market. It started on Davis Boulevard as a sister restaurant to Old Vines at Mercato, which means the chandeliers-and-velvet dinner lounge concept already had a following before this location ever opened.
Why This Is the Year It Happened
The timing matters more than any single opening. Mercato, the shopping and dining hub most Quail Creek residents already treat as their default night-out destination, broke ground on July 23 of this year on an expansion that will triple the size of its central Piazza along Strada Place. The plan adds turf, seat walls, benches, new landscaping, custom lanterns, and color-changing LED lights wrapped around the property's large banyan tree. It is a real upgrade, and it will make Mercato better in the long run.
In the short run, it means construction. The center of the property that makes Mercato work as a place to linger is currently a work site, not a piazza. That is the part of this story that doesn't show up in a simple list of restaurant openings: the same year Mercato's gathering space became harder to enjoy, the plaza closer to Quail Creek quietly kept filling in with businesses that don't need a construction detour to reach.
The New Errand Loop
None of this requires a special trip. If you are already heading to CVS, the same parking lot now gets you a bottle from The Good Pour, a plate of grilled meat at Aufieri & Martinez or a market spread at Ambrosi & Sons, and a sauna session at SweatHouz before you drive home. That is a different proposition than the longer drive to Mercato or Waterside Shops that used to be the default for anything beyond a fast-casual dinner.
It is worth being honest about what this is and isn't. This corner isn't going to replace Mercato as the area's primary destination, and it shouldn't have to. What it does is give Quail Creek residents a real option that used to be a pharmacy stop and nothing more, at a moment when the bigger center down the road is mid-renovation.
Before You Go
The plaza is still filling in. A second commercial building is under construction on the southeast corner of the property, with more space for dining, retail, and services expected to open later this year, and there are still storefronts available for lease. If you are planning a specific stop, call ahead. Several of these businesses opened within the last several months, and hours and reservation policies on newly opened restaurants tend to settle in over their first year rather than at launch.
Local business reporting counted more than fifty new restaurants moving through the greater Naples pipeline for 2025 alone, long before this particular round of North Naples openings took shape, which gives some sense of how much churn the area's restaurant scene absorbs in an ordinary year.
If you have lived in Quail Creek for a while and this is the first you're hearing of any of it, that's the point. Some changes to a neighborhood show up in a listing. This one showed up in a parking lot most of us drive through without stopping to look. If you ever want to talk about what else is shifting in North Naples, or what a home in Quail Creek is actually worth in a market that keeps changing around it, The Higdon Team is always glad to talk shop over a proper conversation, not a sales pitch.
